The Importance of Gen Z Voting in This Year’s Presidential Election

As Social Media Coordinator for MyLLife Inc, a nonprofit organization that supports students in funding their hands-on experiences in the fields of law, government, and public policy– and as a member of Gen-Z myself– I’m thrilled to talk about a critical issue that affects us all: the importance of Gen Z voting in the upcoming presidential election. Our generation has a unique opportunity to shape the future of our country, and our votes can be the driving force behind meaningful change.

The Power of Our Generation

Gen Z, born between 1997 and 2012, makes up a significant portion of the electorate, and our numbers are only growing. We are a generation known for our passion, activism, and desire for social change. From climate change to social justice, we care deeply about the issues that impact our world, and we have the power to influence policy decisions that will shape our future.

The Recent Change: Joe Biden's Decision and Kamala Harris's Endorsement

With the recent announcement of President Joe Biden dropping out of the election and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, the political landscape has shifted dramatically. This change underscores the importance of our involvement in the democratic process.

Why We Need to Vote

  1. Influence Policy Decisions: Our votes can influence policies that matter to us. By voting, we ensure that our voices are heard on issues like education reform, healthcare access, and environmental protection.
  2. Addressing Climate Change: Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and Gen Z is at the forefront of advocating for sustainable solutions. Voting for candidates who prioritize environmental policies is crucial to ensure a livable planet for future generations.
  3. Social Justice and Equality: Our generation is passionate about social justice and equality. Voting allows us to support candidates who are committed to dismantling systemic racism and ensuring gender equality.
  4. Affordable Education: Many of us are burdened by student loans and the high cost of education. By voting, we can support policies that aim to make college more affordable and relieve student debt.
