MyLLife Scholar Spotlight: Nursena Oktem

All of us at MyLLife are pleased to showcase one of our 2026 MyLLife Scholars, Nursena Oktem!

My name is Nursena Oktem, and I am a rising third-year J.D. candidate at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. I graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in Government, and my passion for public service has guided both my academic and professional journey.

This summer, I am serving as a Legal Intern with the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C., where I assist in investigating unfair labor practice charges. Previously, I interned with the Fairfax County Circuit Court, where I conducted legal research, drafted bench memoranda, and observed court proceedings.

As an immigrant, first-generation law student, and mother, I have learned the value of resilience, perseverance, and serving others. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to pursuing a career in public service and using the law to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. After graduation, I hope to clerk for a judge and continue building a career dedicated to advancing justice and serving the public.

I am honored to be selected as a MyLLife Scholar and grateful for the opportunity to join a cohort of students who share a commitment to public service. I look forward to learning from my fellow scholars, building lasting relationships, and growing both personally and professionally as we pursue our summer internships and future careers in government and public service.
