All of us at MyLLife are excited to highlight our volunteer, Selena Gallagher!
Selena Gallagher is an experienced information systems professional with over 30 years of work in the United States and internationally. Selena was born in Malaysia and received her early education at Convent Bukit Nanas before moving to the United States at age 18. She later earned a Master’s degree in Information Systems from American University.
Selena has lived in the U.S., Asia, and the Caribbean, where she built her career while raising three children. Her work has included implementing the EDGAR system for corporate tax filings, organizing the American Booth at the Barbados Governor’s Celebration, creating educational software training programs for teachers and administrators, and managing communications for newly arriving families and students.
A significant portion of Selena’s career was dedicated to the U.S. Department of State, where she managed the implementation of Maximo, a building information system, supporting more than 13 million square feet of domestic facilities. This IT-intensive role required not only technical expertise but also strong communication, coordination, and contract negotiation skills, as she worked closely with vendors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful system deployment and operations.
Now retired and based in Northern Virginia, Selena volunteers with MyLife, a faith-based nonprofit organization, where she edits the newsletter, manages online events, and assists wherever possible. She enjoys traveling and recently visited Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Maldives.
