MyLLife.org, a Northern Virginia-based nonprofit dedicated to Islamic awareness and community service, is leading its annual group reading of the entire Qur’an in English during Ramadan. This year’s sessions have drawn a record number of international participants, uniting diverse voices in spiritual reflection.
Hosted daily at 10 a.m. EST on Zoom, the readings are from the series “Removing the Middleman”, translations of the Qur’an by Rashed Hasan. The translations are an effort to make the Qur’an accessible to non-Arabic speakers while keeping to the true intent of the messages revealed to the Prophet. Participants from Malaysia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Norway, and multiple U.S. states join. Because of the time difference, the Malaysian group stays up the latest to participate.
To date, the group has covered 18 chapters. Attendees report feeling a profound sense of connection, with many saying they feel a loss when unable to attend some sessions. While individuals read ahead from personal copies, the highlight remains the safe, open discussions exploring Islam’s practices—distinguishing core religious teachings from cultural traditions.
“These sessions make the Qur’an’s message come alive,” said a participant. “It’s rewarding to see how shared reflection fosters unity and insight.”
