MyLLife Digest: May 2025

May Editorial: MyLLife Scholars Program

At this time of the year since 2022, we have the exciting opportunity to interview spirited and motivated college students from all walks of life who have personal stories that motivate them to seek a career in public service and public policy.

MyLLife Scholars Program (MLSP), our flagship program is in its fourth year, where we encourage college students to explore careers in public services by taking on a full-time summer internships at federal, state and local level with government agencies, law offices, courts and impactful non-profit organizations. Last summer we funded 8 Scholars – you can see their profiles here.  You will also hear a short video in their own voice about their summer experiences if you click on their picture.

This year we have received applications from universities across the country and will be selecting scholars for the 2025 Cohort.  . We always look forward to these conversations as we get to know these incredible individuals who have unique stories to tell about their lives, aspirations, and purposefulness in what they seek to do over the summer.  Many of them are unable to pursue such internships for lack of funds, as many college level internships are unfunded or under-funded. This creates socio-economic disparities because of the lack of family funds or resulting in the lack of access to some of these internships.

Over the last three years we have funded thirty plus scholars. They had worked in various places – such as the office of Senators and Congressmen, the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Courts, State Attorney General’s offices, local county courts, human rights organizations, and United Nations, to name a few. This year’s applicants have secured internships at various organizations including DOJ, Department of Homeland Security, California Department of Justice, Office of NY State Attorney General, American Aid (non-profit) for vulnerable individuals/families, Blue Ocean Law on Climate Justice/Human Rights, Innovation Law Lab focused on Immigrant Protection.

Our scholarship ranges from $1,500 - $4,000 for the summer. Please consider sponsoring one or more students this upcoming summer of 2025. Our sponsors include individuals, foundations, corporations, and family offices. We encourage you to sponsor as well as help identify and connect potential sponsors for these scholarships.
