MyLLife Digest: October 2026

The George Mason Connection

MyLLife Inc partners with George Mason University as a community partner site for the Civic Fellows program. MyLLife's mission centers on learning through discussions, seminars, and workshops, and on organizing social, charitable, and civic activities that build the capacity to know and serve the community. That mission fits the program well. Civic Fellows is a one-year paid engaged service program in which Mason students are matched with community partners for 8-10 hours of service per week on a project the partner proposes. Under this arrangement, Mason's Office of Community Engagement and Civic Learning (CECiL) convenes the program, matches students with partners, trains the Fellows, and gathers feedback on the experience. MyLLife, in turn, provides the hands-on placement and project work, including its Scholars and Economic & Social Justice programs, and evaluates the Fellows during and at the end of the program. The collaboration benefits both sides. The Fellows' cohort experience introduces them to social justice and civic learning, and MyLLife's community work puts those ideas into practice. In exchange, the organization gains dedicated student support for its programs and events, while students gain real-world civic experience that extends their learning beyond the classroom
