Peggy, a member of our MyLLife Scholars 2023 Cohort, shared her Summer internship experience with us:
This summer I had the privilege of being a judicial intern at the Sonoma County Superior Court, where I worked for a judge assigned to the civil docket. My main task was to help draft tentative rulings, which required that I read case documentation, conduct legal research, and draft memorandum for the judge. I learned so much from my discussions about cases with the judge and research attorneys. I also had the opportunity to observe court proceedings, which helped demystify the courtroom for me.
I enjoyed serving the Sonoma County community and learning from people in various roles at the court: judges, research attorneys, staff managers, judicial assistants, courtroom clerks, and legal processors. My internship was an invaluable experience and gave me an even greater appreciation for the court system. With everything I learned this summer, I feel more prepared to enter my third year of law school at George Mason University and the legal workforce after I graduate. I am grateful to the people at the Sonoma County Superior Court for all their kindness and help this summer. Thank you to MyLLife Inc. for its support during this wonderful internship!
Thank you, Peggy, for sharing your experience!
